Effective date: November 6, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Inumimo Idowu ("we", "us"), the publisher of the HormoneGuard app. By downloading or using HormoneGuard you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. What HormoneGuard is — and is not
HormoneGuard is an educational product-information tool. It does not diagnose conditions, predict outcomes, or replace medical advice.
It reads the ingredient list of a product and shows how those ingredients are described in published research and regulatory opinions, weighted against the health topics you choose. Its verdicts — Low Risk, Caution, Avoid and Unknown — summarise that information. They are not a statement that a product is safe or unsafe for you, and they are not a recommendation to use, buy or stop using any product.
- Talk to a professional. If you are pregnant, trying to conceive, managing a condition such as PCOS or a thyroid disorder, or choosing products for a child, discuss product choices with a doctor, pharmacist or other qualified professional. Do not delay or disregard professional advice because of something the app shows.
- It is not an allergy checker. The app does not assess allergies, intolerances or sensitivities to specific substances. Always read the product's own label.
- Not for emergencies. If you think you are having a reaction to a product, contact a medical professional or emergency services.
2. Where the information comes from, and its limits
- Results are worked out on your device from a published table of deductions and the app's ingredient reference database, both described on the app's Methodology screen. The database is curated from cited sources but is not complete; an ingredient it does not know is marked Unknown, never safe.
- Product data and images come from Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts, open databases edited by volunteers. They may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and a manufacturer may change a formula without the database changing.
- Model-assisted results. Ingredients the database does not cover may be classified by an AI model (Google Gemini). These results are labelled model-assisted and can be wrong.
- Label photos. Text read from a photograph can contain mistakes. Check it against the pack.
We work to keep the information accurate, but we do not guarantee that it is complete, current or free of errors.
3. Your account
The app creates an anonymous account for you automatically the first time it runs; there is no username or password. Your history, saved products and preferences are stored on your device, so we cannot recover them if you lose the device, uninstall the app, or reset or delete your data. How we handle data is described in the Privacy Policy. You can delete the account at any time in Settings → Delete account and data.
4. Free use and HormoneGuard Premium
Free use. The free version includes a number of scans per day, shown in the app, and displays ads. When ads are available, you can watch an optional ad for an extra scan, a limited number of times per day. We may change the free allowance.
Premium subscription. HormoneGuard Premium removes the daily scan count and all ads. It is an auto-renewable subscription sold through the App Store or Google Play:
- The price and billing period are shown before you buy, and payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically at the same price and period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- If a free trial or introductory price is offered, the store shows its length and the price that follows before you confirm. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- You manage or cancel the subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app, or deleting your HormoneGuard account, does not cancel it.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. Nothing in these terms limits a right to a refund you have under the law where you live.
- If you reinstall the app or change devices, use Restore purchase with the same store account to link your subscription again.
We may change subscription prices for future periods; the store tells you in advance and, where the law or the store requires it, asks you to agree.
5. Acceptable use
You may use HormoneGuard for your own, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:
- access our servers other than through the app, or automate requests to them (for example by scraping or bulk lookups);
- get around usage limits, ads, subscriptions or the app's integrity checks;
- copy, modify, decompile or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
- use the app or its results to mislead others, for example by presenting a verdict as our endorsement of, or claim against, a product or brand.
We may suspend access for anyone who breaks these rules or puts the service or other users at risk.
6. Third-party content and trademarks
Product names, brands and images belong to their owners and are shown only to identify the product you looked up. Their appearance in the app does not mean we are affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any brand, or they by us.
Product data from Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts is available under the Open Database License (ODbL), and their images under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licences. See Credits and licences. Ads are supplied by Google AdMob; we do not control and are not responsible for advertisers' products or websites.
7. Our app
The app, its design, its scoring methodology, its ingredient explanations and its other content belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, under these terms and the rules of the store you got it from.
These terms also cover this website, including its blog and ingredient pages, which are general information and not advice about your situation. The Disclaimer explains their limits and forms part of these terms.
8. Disclaimers and liability
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, and we are not liable for any decision you make about a product, or for indirect or consequential loss. Where the law allows our liability to be limited, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
9. App Store terms
If you got the app from Apple's App Store:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the app, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer-protection or privacy claims; we are, to the extent these terms and the law provide.
- If a third party claims that the app infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must also comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your mobile carrier's.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
If you got the app from Google Play, Google Play's terms also apply to your download and purchases.
10. Changes and ending these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the app changes. We will update the effective date above and, for a significant change, tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using the app after that, the new terms apply. You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it (and cancelling any subscription in your store account).
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and you may bring a claim in your local courts.
